A shooting Sunday in a New Orleans neighborhood left two people killed and five others, including two kids aged 2 and 4, wounded, police said.
Police spokesman Frank Roberson stated that the children and another victim were in critical condition; but two other people were stable. He didn’t release any other information, including a possible motive for the shooting.
The incident took place in Lower Ninth, a predominantly black neighborhood, in New Orleans which has struggled with crime since being stricken by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. It has been one of the slowest parts of the city to recover because many homeowners couldn’t afford insurance
Meanwhile, in another spate of violence, a 20-year-old man shot his friend inside a hotel room and then killed himself on Sunday morning. The victim is in a hospital and in stable condition. According to eyewitnesses, the gunman has been ‘dazed and confused under the influence of some unknown substance.
